Full-Time Application DBA – Application and Information Systems
Job Description
FUNCTION:
The Application DBA is responsible for building effective, usable databases in the development area to support the business applications. The application DBA will work with the application teams to create and maintain effective database-coupled application logic, stored procedures, packages and triggers. They are responsible for the promotion of Meta data in the development environment and are also responsible for providing the test data, moving it from one environment to another.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Generates the DDL from the physical schema models in the development environment
• Involved in the design of Meta Data management solutions
• Manages the population of data in the Meta Data repository
• Manages the promotion of data from the Meta Data repository to the development environment
• Manages the changes to pre-production data objects using the Oracle Designer SCM tool
• Builds and maintains tools (data load scripts and meta data load scripts) required to manage the DBA processes associated with the development environment.
• Performance analysis of SQL and Pl/SQL activities associated with application development
• Transforms the logical to physical models once the design is approved by the DBA architect
• Ensures the database standards are followed
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• Extensive knowledge of database administration with a minimum of five years of experience
• Experience in an Oracle operational DBA environment an asset
• A background in development
• Involvement in implementation of large applications
• SQL and PLSQL performance analysis
• Experience with Case Tools – Oracle Designer/SCM preferred
• Project management or leadership experience would be a definite asset.
