Full-Time Embedded Software Designer – Optical Control

Job Description

BTI Systems has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Embedded Software Designer – Optical Control within our Software Development Team. As a member of the team you will participate in the design and development of embedded systems software that is the foundation of our expanding product portfolio.

Responsibilities will include:

• Analysis, specification, design and verification of the core control systems for BTI’s ROADM portfolio;
• Working closely with hardware engineers, software engineers and system architects in order to deliver high performance control systems for EDFA and other components in the ROADM subsystem.

The successful candidate will possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science coupled with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing and implementing control solutions for EDFA and other optical subsystems;
• Experience with digital and analog control system theory and design;
• Simulink/MATLAB modeling and simulation;
• Optical test and measurement including the characterization of frequency response, transient control performance, system stability;
• DSP;
• FPGA HDL Programming;
• C/C++ programming for embedded systems;
• Carrier-grade system requirements;
• 10Gbps/40Gbps/100Gbps transmission systems;
• Strong verbal and written communications skills;
• Enthusiasm and a personal drive to succeed;
• Ability to work independently and creatively when blocked
