The Role – Mobile Application Developer:

Reporting to the Lead Mobile Application Manager, the Mobile Application Developer will design, architect, and develop mobile applications and client-driven enhancements based on our core product.

Mercatus’ engineering group utilizes the Agile Development methodology.  We are looking for someone with the conceptual and technical horsepower to get up to speed quickly and transform user stories into well-written, high quality applications in a highly interactive and fast-paced environment.  As an Application Developer in our environment you’ll be expected to play a significant role in the QA of the applications you build and to take pride in the delivery of (mostly) error-free projects.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and build scalable iOS applications for iPhone and iPad based on our core platform API from start to finish
• Participate in discussions with Project Management, Product Owner, UX / Design Team and development leads to identify and plan requirements
• Optimize applications and code base (through refactoring, caching, code reviews)
• Develop and execute test cases

 Required Skills and Experience:

• Expert knowledge of Objective-C and Cocoa Framework
• Solid understanding of CoreData
• Practical experience developing in Apple iOS platform
• Exposure to development using RESTful APIs
• Use of bug tracking software, ideally JIRA
• Demonstrated knowledge of HTTP protocol, including authorization, cache control, and proxy
• Knowledge of web/data/network security
• Exposure to or understanding of Agile methodology is an asset
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including system documentation
• Flexible, adaptable and easy going, but able to remain focused on results
• Experience developing on Android platform would be an asset
