Full-Time Network Engineer
Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned Network Engineer to plan, engineer and maintain our corporate voice, video and data network infrastructure including a 150+ site global WAN, Cisco-based LAN and Unified Communications environment.

As McCain’s Network Engineer, you will work closely with our Network Administrators and Network Architect to design, implement and maintain global network infrastructure.. Your superior problem solving skills will constantly be used to drive tier-3 issue resolution. As a leader, you will play a significant role coaching and mentoring junior resources and regional technicians to safely perform basic network repair tasks.
What to expect
As a member of the Network Services team, you will work with a suite of NMS tools to manage and support our global network, including two enterprise computing rooms. You will create engineering designs for our infrastructure, ensuring capacity, performance and operability. You know that documentation is necessary and have experience designing, verifying and refining documentation. In addition to resolving critical issues, you’ll be busy with project work, including assessments and feedback on tactical planning and operational direction and technology refreshes.
What you’ll achieve
Your technology and leadership skills will grow as you lead and participate in projects utilizing leading edge technologies. By the end of 2013, our150+ sites will be enhanced to utilize the latest UTM technologies as well as WAN optimization (application acceleration) infrastructure. You will also play a technology leadership role in designing and implementing a state of the art Wireless LAN within our global offices and production facilities. You will be instrumental in assisting the implementation of self-service while maintaining administration change control.
About you
It is required that you have previous in-depth experience as a Network Engineer, preferably in a global enterprise environment. Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, along with excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential as you collaborate closely with the team, senior management and vendors across the globe. You must have a strong working knowledge of Cisco products (supported by advanced certification levels), including product categories such as:
· Cisco routers: 800, 1800, 2800, 3800 and 3900 series
· Cisco switches: 2960, 3750, Nexus core (7K, 5K, 2K)
· Security: VPN (IPSec, SSL), firewalls, UTM devices
· WAN acceleration
· Global and domestic MPLS (IPVPN) services
· Wireless LAN: 802.11b/g/n Access Points, Controllers
· Voice over IP fundamentals: QoS techniques
· Network Management tools: LMS, etc
Location
This job is located out of Toronto, Ontario or at our Global Technology Centre in Florenceville, New Brunswick and will require the successful candidate to relocate to the area if necessary. The GTC is home to over 200 technology professionals from around the world who work on applications, platforms and projects of a global nature for McCain Foods Ltd. Currently, we can only consider Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents for this role.
