Position Description
DEPARTMENT: Engineering QC
STATUS: High Tech Professional
SUMMARY: The Software Test Engineer III is responsible for the implementation and execution aspects of system software test, including test design, scripting, documentation, test execution, defect analysis and report. The Software Test Engineer may take on the role of Test Lead responsible for performing test project management tasks for a small/medium size project. The Software Test Engineer will take on technical leadership on one highly complex application or multiple low-medium complexity applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Analyzes complex requirements and implement appropriate test strategy and test cases
*Takes on the role of Test Lead for a small/medium project or a sub-project within a large project
*Contributes to project planning, estimation and project tracking
*Manages the test environment
*Provides technical leadership on one highly complex application or multiple low-medium complexity applications
*Provides training and mentoring to testers on areas of expertise
*Assists in the development and implementation of QC policies and procedures
*Conduct peer reviews on test artifacts and records
*Carries out other tasks as assigned
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in software testing
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Practical knowledge of Windows 2003/2008/XP/Vista
- Practical knowledge of SQL and Database management systems (preferably Oracle)
- Experience using client/server applications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Automated Software Test Tools design and implementation
- Computer networking
- PC hardware configuration and troubleshooting
- Defect Management tools such as ClearQuest, StarTeam
- Test Case Management software such as Mercury Test Director, Quality Center
- Requirements Management software such as Rational Requisite Pro, Caliber
- Scripting (Perl, VBscript, Shell Scripting…)
Minimum Requirements
4+ years experience in software and/or program testing
Education
Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, natural sciences or equivalent.
