Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and follow tools and procedures used for checks and monitoring the status of the systems ensuring their integrity.
- Suggest new procedures to prevent or identify problem areas.
- Oversee and provide expertise in the setup and troubleshooting of development databases and development process/applications to ensure that development systems can be moved into production roles.
- Provide feedback and suggestions to Development or 3rd party consultants to resolve production issues with databases or applications used in productions when faults occur
- Maintain Database systems and servers minimizing potential problems with servers and production databases by monitoring operations, resources and log files, ensuring file systems have the necessary space for proper functioning.
- Plan upgrades or modifications, resolving issues with servers and production databases to ensuring functionality of production software.
- Scheduling regular maintenance to prevent problems and maintaining scheduled backups, ensuring they are performed accurately
- Provides service and support 24/7/365 as required, during exceptional circumstances, to maintain systems and service availability. This includes monitoring and responding to after-hours alerts sent though mobile devices, as well as responding to phone calls for support as situations require.
- Analyse bottlenecks of database systems, storage devices and networks to maximize database and application performance levels and storage capacity
Required Talents and Experience:
- Five to ten years experience in SR DB support role (Certifications are optional).
- Oracle RAC
- Triggers
- Experience with Queue and SQL Replication.
- My SQL
- My SQL Server
- Disaster recovery experience.
- Experience with large tables, LOBs, Star Joins.
- Experience in creating and maintaining Oracle databases, Unix scripts, Oracle scripts, and procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
- Proven analytical skills.
- Experience in data modeling and scripting.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
