Who You Are:
Years of developing software in constrained environments have gifted you with clean, clear, efficient, well documented, easy to debug and support code. You’re the one your co-workers come to when they have questions about the underpinnings and quirks of Android and iOS. You’ve built and published several apps in both the Marketplace and the App Store; you care less about language and platform than you do about design, flow and friction.
The consummate team player, you are happy to build new things from scratch, improve existing tools, design, review code, have code reviewed, ask questions of the product owner, dig through API code on the server side,

What You’ll Do
- Contribute to on-time / in-spec delivery of project items, communicating clearly with leads, manager and stakeholders
- Contribute to architecture / design conversations and code reviews (yours and other team members’)
- Contribute to design, architecture, process and development standards
- Effectively mentor more junior team members in an Agile environment, helping to maintain appropriate unit test coverage, code documentation, software structure and supportability
- Distil and communicate technical concepts to more junior developers and stakeholders
- Advise on courses of study for team members and / or self
- Argue for the right outcomes with facts, conviction and diplomacy
- Identify, evaluate and suggest mitigation strategies for risks during design phase
- Develop our iPad, iPhone and Android UIs, frameworks and tools
- Design and implement features for new and existing products
What We Love About You
- Your written and spoken English are excellent
- You’ve been developing software since you could tie your shoes or for more than 7 years, whichever is longer
- You have experience with multi-threading and network communications in Java, Android and iOS and are capable to diving into the deepest parts of new (or old) technologies when called for
- You have previously interacted with a REST / JSON API in iOS / Android
- You understand / have used Java, Grails, HTML5 / CSS3, JavaScript…
- You understand networking, network programming, network-oriented design patterns (especially MVC and SOA) and best practices
- You have excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills
- You are familiar and comfortable with rapidly-evolving Agile development environments
- You have an understanding of and experience with common bug / task tracking, requirements tracking, traceability and test automation tools
- You have an ability to rapidly absorb and comprehend software and systems
- You have a good understanding of Web Services, XML, JBoss (and / or other application servers), SQL, SVN, networking / sockets, SMP and clustering
- You perform well under pressure and love a tight timeline
- You are familiar with Android and iOS SDK, UI components, layouts, custom themes, styles and attributes
Fine Print
The successful applicant will have a minimum of 7 years combined experience in software development. Post-secondary education and / or industry certification are both assets.
