Accountabilities
The Unix Systems Administrator role is responsible for the deployment and management of technical solutions within the Network and Systems team. This role works closely with other Systems Administrators and Systems Architects to ensure that optimal performance and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met. Systems Administrators are responsible for the eMail, Web, and Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructures as well as backend support systems including storage and databases.
This Unix Systems Administrator role is specific to the email infrastructure and requires in-depth knowledge of Mail Transfer Agents, preferably Sendmail and associated tools. Experience administering email for a large Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a definite asset.
Required:
- Knowledge in an ISP environment administering eMail
- Knowledge of Sendmail
- Knowledge of POP/IMAP/SMTP protocols
- Linux, Apache, My SQL, PHP (LAMP)
- Knowledge of Enterprise Storage systems (SAN or NAS)
- Adept at multitasking and prioritizing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Comfortable participating in technical meetings
- Capable of directing other technical workers both internal and external to Hostopia
- Research and embrace new technologies pertinent to Hostopia’s needs
- Comfortable writing technical specs and technological manuals
- Ability to quickly asses technical issues and deploy appropriate solutions
